Life at Stewarts of Tayside

We are a leading UK grower of swede and soft fruit, with a personal touch. Should you be seeking a career with us, it will be exciting, dynamic and rewarding but should you be looking for seasonal work only you should also have a similar experience. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of enterprises and with a diverse and hard working group of colleagues.

Learning and Development

We want to help you to make the most of your abilities and to forge a career you can be proud of or to have a season that you take something from. Our training programme and on the job learning is extensive and it is focused on maximising your abilities, which in turn provides opportunities for the company. We believe that the most effective learning is informal, however, we do support many members of staff with more formal learning and towards qualifications. If you are involved in such learning you will receive the highest level of support from the company. We recognise your career is important to you and we wish to support, guide and encourage you along the way by providing first class training opportunities.

Our Culture

Our informal culture is an ideal environment to develop your career or to spend a season on your travels. People truly are at the heart of what we do and are fundamental to our success. Our people helped build the company to where we are today and it is our people who will prepare us for the opportunities that lie ahead.

Our reputation for treating our people well is about more than rewarding them financially (which we do well!) – it is about encouraging development, improving their skills and making each day interesting and a challenging experience. Working in small teams with a high level of co-operation you will learn directly from some of the most experienced and sharp minds in the sector and you will quickly get to know each other well.

Pay and Benefits

There is excellent earning potential.  Our remuneration and benefits packages are highly competitive within our sectors and will seek to fully reflect your contribution to the company. Where appropriate, these will at a minimum comply with the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board guidelines, which includes overtime pay for field workers at 150% after 8 hours per day and/or 48 hours per week. We are also automatically enrolled and provide a Workplace Pension Scheme for all eligible seasonal and full time employees.

Our accommodation on the farm is well located with excellent local amenities and transport links.  It is of a high standard, with a good atmosphere, regular social events and a fully staffed 24 hour office on site. There is a gym, table tennis room, football pitch, TV room, internet facilities and a BBQ area.
